Books that keep up with the business on their own
Every invoice, payment, bill and expense posts to a double-entry general ledger as it happens. Reconcile the bank, close periods and produce statements without exporting to another system.

What you can do with Accounting
Posting that happens by itself
Invoices, payments, bills, payments made, expenses and transfers create their journal entries automatically. Manual journals are there for everything else.
A chart of accounts that fits
Build or import your chart of accounts as a tree, set opening balances, and map categories to accounts, so pest control revenue and deep cleaning revenue land in different accounts without editing each product.
Bank reconciliation
Import a bank statement as CSV or Excel. Orbit suggests matches with the reasons it chose them, applies your rules, and flags duplicate lines instead of dropping them.
- Gateway fees and small differences posted as their own entry
- Cheques written in one month can clear in a later one
- Completed reconciliations are locked and printable
Periods and year-end
Fiscal years, accounting periods and a year-end close keep last quarter’s figures where you left them.
Statements and tax
Trial balance, profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, cash book, day book, general ledger, AR and AP aging, and a VAT report built from the ledger.
Ledger integrity checks
A dashboard that tests whether the sub-ledgers and the general ledger agree, so problems surface before the accountant finds them.

Connected to the rest of Orbit
Good to know
What this part of Orbit does not do today, so there are no surprises later.
- Accounting is switched on for a workspace by the Orbit team, which provisions the chart of accounts, journals and fiscal year for you.
- Bank statements are imported from files. There are no live bank feeds.
- Orbit does not have cost centres or allocation; lines of business are separated by account.
Accounting: common questions
Something else? Ask us directly.
Do we still need separate accounting software?
Orbit keeps a full double-entry ledger with statements, bank reconciliation and period closing. Whether you keep another package usually depends on your accountant and any integrations you rely on. We are happy to discuss it with them.
Can Orbit connect to our bank?
Not directly. You import statements as CSV or Excel files, and Orbit matches them against your books.
Can we separate two lines of business in the accounts?
Yes. Map each product category or expense category to its own revenue or expense account, and each line of business shows up separately in the profit and loss.
Bring your accountant to the demo
We will post a real invoice and payment and follow it into the ledger and the bank reconciliation.
