Local Mode runs the same Orbit application on a computer or server you control, with its own database and file storage. Your team uses it in the browser over your network, just like the cloud version.

Desktop or server
Install the desktop app on Windows, macOS or Linux, or run Orbit headless as a system service on a server.
Everything included
Orbit brings its own PostgreSQL database and stores files on local disk. No Docker and no Redis to manage.
Backups on a schedule
Daily, weekly and monthly backups with retention, plus an automatic safety backup before every update or restore.
Guided setup
A setup wizard configures storage, your domain and the first workspace. Each installation is activated by your Orbit supplier before it can be set up.
Connected to the rest of Orbit

What this part of Orbit does not do today, so there are no surprises later.

No. It is the same Orbit application with local adapters for storage, background jobs and the database.
How is Local Mode licensed?
